Memories in Monroe Classic Car Show is an event is held every year in historic downtown Monroe with participants coming from all over the state of Georgia. All Cars participating in the show will be set up on Court Street, Midland Avenue, and Washington Street near the Historic Walton County Courthouse. Contestants and guests enjoy a special appearance by Sam Memmolo, host of Two Guys Garage on the Speed Channel and the popular radio show Sam’s Garage. Guests also enjoy classic rock and roll music by Cruzin to the Oldies DJ Tommy Landrum. No need to worry about packing a lunch, downtown restaurants are on hand at the food court serving both breakfast and lunch.
The Monroe Farmers Market is an initiative to encourage citizens to buy fresh, locally grown produce and goods. The market is operated and comprised by its membership of farmers, growers, artisans and vendors. Our goal is to 1) provide local growers an outlet to showcase and market products; 2) publicize the importance of locally grown products; 3) provide opportunities for presentations and demonstrations related to agriculture, gardening, food safety and preparation; and 4) allow citizens of Monroe and the surrounding area the opportunity to buy healthy, locally grown products to enhance their quality of lifestyle. Come out and join us each Saturday during the growing season to enjoy some family friendly activities along with shopping your local farmers market!
The Summer Concert Series occurs on the First Friday evening of every month from May to September. There are 6 summer concerts in all. On each of our concert evenings, spectators can come and enjoy the sounds of bands from the likes of Kinchafoonee Cowboys to the Swinging Medallions. There are VIP tables available for our sponsors and for purchase by the general public. There is also plenty of seating on the lawn and on Broad Street, which is closed to traffic for the event. Admission to the concerts if free and is open to all ages. People from all over Walton County and surrounding areas come to enjoy music, food and good times on the Historic Courthouse Lawn.
Fall Fest is the official kick off for the Fall Season in Downtown Monroe. Families can come and enjoy a day full of activities, costume contest, games and pony rides for children. Others can walk around and enjoy the change of weather, visiting our local downtown shops, dining in our restaurants, or enjoying live music and entertainment.
Light Up the Night is an annual event to celebrate the lighting of the trees throughout Downtown Monroe. Businesses stay open late, restaurants are open for dining, local entertainers can be found stationed around the downtown area, and local art is on display as well. This is a great time to get in the mood for the upcoming Holiday season.
Candlelight Shopping is a time for shoppers to come and fill their Holiday lists by supporting our local downtown merchants and enjoying later store hours, live music, and appearances by Santa Clause. You’ll find yourself ready for the Holiday season and enjoying your shopping while spending time with us on Thursday evenings.
The Christmas Parade is a long standing tradition of Downtown Monroe, and no holiday season is complete without it. Parade participants light up Broad Street with classic cars, horses, children’s groups, business floats, marching bands, performing arts groups, and many other things that showcase the vitality of our community!
